Indigenous people of Maine are fortunate to live on the same beautiful lands and be nour- ished by the same majestic waters that our ancestors cared for many generations before us. While we are some of the first people of the coun- try to be colonized, we remain in our homeland, undisplaced. The “settling” of Maine had trag- ic effects on our population, resources, cultural identity, and customs.
